CVC DIF has acquired a majority stake in Cernaval, a Spanish shipyard specializing in the repair, maintenance and conversion of commercial vessels. The business holds a long-term concession at the Port of Algeciras Bay in southern Spain, a major maritime hub on the Strait of Gibraltar, through which more than 120,000 vessels pass each year.
Established more than 30 years ago, Cernaval serves shipowners and maritime operators from its shipyard in the Algeciras Bay. Its facilities include a 400-meter (1,312-foot) dry dock, a 230-meter (755-foot) floating dock, quays and workshops, enabling the business to undertake both routine maintenance and complex repairs to large vessels.
CVC DIF plans to work with Cernaval’s management team to develop the business further, with a focus on modernizing the shipyard, broadening its capabilities, and strengthening commercial and operational processes. Plans also include digitalization and energy-efficiency measures to strengthen Cern
