Cubico expands footprint in Uruguay with wind farm buy

Cubico Sustainable Investments, a U.K.–based renewable energy infrastructure company, has acquired a 50-megawatt wind farm in Uruguay for an undisclosed amount. The sellers were an unnamed group of investors.

The Astidey wind farm, located in the southwest of the country, became operational in 2015. The purchase brings Cubico’s portfolio in Uruguay to 100 megawatts, comprising two wind assets.

“We have had a historical presence in Uruguay and this acquisition further strengthens our footprint in the country, positioning our platform for additional growth in the near future,” said Ricardo Diaz, head of Americas at Cubico.

“We have been looking at the country for some time and are delighted to be able to close another acquisition, which positions us as one of the largest owners of renewable energy assets in Uruguay,” added Francisco Moya, head of Brazil for the firm.
