China is expected to roll out an unprecedented amount of spending on “new infrastructure,” which includes 5G networks and data centers, in response to the economic blow caused by the coronavirus COVID-19.
South China Morning Post reported that President Xi Jinping also revealed plans to accelerate spending on a range of other infrastructure projects already in the pipeline.
According to Worldometer, the virus has infected 97,941 people and caused 3,354 deaths. The majority of these are concentrated in China, which has seen 80,430 cases and 3,013 deaths. The coronavirus has affected 87 countries and territories around the world.
