Corner Brook Health Partnership wins contract for seven-story acute care hospital

by Kali Persall

Corner Brook Health Partnership has won the bid to design, build, finance and maintain a new seven-story acute care hospital in Corner Brook, Newfoundland — the result of a 17-month procurement process.

The contract is valued at CAD$750 million ($571.9 million).

The 600,000-square-foot facility will connect to the 145-bed long-term care home currently under construction, according to the Department of Transportation and Works, which facilitated the bid.

The new hospital will have 164 beds with the same services currently provided at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, as well as an expanded cancer care program.

Construction of the hospital will start this summer and is expected to be completed in 2023.

Corner Brook Health Partnership is a partnership comprised of Plenary Group Ltd., PCL Constructors Canada, Marco Services, and Johnson Controls Canada.
