Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners wins leasing area in historic U.S. offshore wind auction

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its CI IV fund and its affiliate California North Floating, has emerged as the provisional winner of lease area OCS-P 0562 in the first-ever offshore wind lease sale on the U.S. West Coast.

The auction, held by the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), was the first-ever U.S. sale to support potential commercial-scale floating offshore wind energy development. In October, BOEM announced plans to hold the historic offshore lease sale on Dec. 6, representing approximately 373,268 acres, with the potential to produce more than 4.5 gigawatts of offshore wind energy. The lease sale is for areas on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) off central and northern California. A total of five offshore wind energy leases off the central and northern California coast have been auctioned off.
