Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and international green-energy company Ignitis Renewables have won Estonia’s first offshore wind tender, having placed the highest bid of €1.7 million ($1.8 million).
The auction-based competitive tender concerns the development of an offshore wind farm in Estonia’s Liivi 2 sea area. The maritime area for the offshore wind farm is located northwest of Ruhnu Island, near Estonia’s Baltic Sea coast, covering around 115 square kilometers (44 square miles) with a total capacity of up to 1.4 gigawatts, which is expected to become operational after 2030.
This year, Ignitis Renewables and CIP signed an agreement to collaborate exclusively on offshore wind opportunities in Estonia and Latvia.
