Mid-Atlantic Offshore Wind, a fund managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), has acquired lease area OCS-A 0544 in the New York Bight, a triangular geological indentation located along the Atlantic coast of the United States.
In January, the U.S Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced plans to hold a wind-energy auction for more than 488,000 acres in the New York Bight, marking the first offshore wind-energy auction under the Biden-Harris Administration.
A month later, BOEM said it had completed the country’s biggest offshore-wind auction after three days and 64 rounds. The six offered lease sites gathered a total of $4.37 billion that will go to the U.S. Treasury.
