Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners acquires South African renewable-energy developer

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has acquired a majority share in Mulilo Energy, a renewable-energy developer based in Cape Town, South Africa. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Mulilo was founded in 2008 and currently holds an 8 percent market share in the South African renewable-energy sector. To date, the company has developed and successfully delivered 440 megawatts of operating wind and solar projects. In addition, the company holds an extensive pipeline exceeding 25 gigawatts across onshore wind, solar PV and storage.

Under the terms of the sale, CIP will assume full control of the company, with the current founders and management remaining on board and driving the company’s growth.
