Connecticut slates $500m for I Squared, Morgan Stanley infra funds

Connecticut state treasurer Erick Russell announced more than $1.6 billion of investment commitments at the state’s investment advisory council meeting Dec. 4.

The series of investments included a commitment of up to $200 million to ISQ Global Infrastructure Credit II, an infrastructure and natural resources fund opportunity managed by I Squared Capital, and up to $300 million to Morgan Stanley CRPTF Co-Investment L.P. infrastructure series, a real estate fund and infrastructure and natural resources fund opportunity.

The I Squared strategy eyes mezzanine deals in investment and noninvestment-grade debt. The previous fund in the series closed at $750 million in June 2023, with investments focused on the energy, transportation, utility and telecommunications sectors primarily in Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) markets.

In 2021, the Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds committed up to $125 million to Morgan Stanley Investment
