Compass Data Centers acquires Canadian hosting company

by Kali Persall

Texas-based Compass Data Centers has purchased Root Data Center for an undisclosed sum.

Root Data Center, a hosting company in Canada, operates data facilities in the Montreal market.

Last week, Compass announced that it had raised $3 billion in additional commitments from investors, however Data Center Knowledge speculates that it is unlikely to have been more than $1 billion, given the size of Root’s data center assets.

With the deal, the company has entered into its third hyperscale market. The others are comprised of Northern Virginia and Phoenix, which Compass also recently entered.
