Power-unit manufacturer CK Power is advancing with a feasibility study regarding a planned hydroelectric power plant in northern Laos, according to Bangkok Post.
The Luang Prabang project will be built on the Mekong mainstream in Houygno village. The run-of-the-river dam is expected to generate some 1,460 megawatts of electricity, with Thailand and Vietnam said to be prospective power buyers.
With a development cost of 150 billion to 160 billion baht ($4.5 billion to $4.8 billion), the hydroelectric plant is scheduled to be completed in 2027.
