Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has plans to divest a 50 percent ownership stake in Coalburn 2, a 500-megawatt construction-stage battery energy storage system (BESS), to funds managed by AIP Management, a specialist investor in energy and decarbonization infrastructure.

Coalburn 2 is a two-hour duration lithium-ion battery project located in southern Scotland. After becoming operational, the new project will be among Europe’s largest battery storage facilities, supporting grid stability and the integration of renewable-energy generation.
