Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Tokyu Land Corp. (TLC) have formed a joint partnership to develop the Aomori South offshore wind project in northern Japan.

CIP’s fund, Copenhagen Infrastructure IV K/S (CI IV), and TLC have formed a new joint venture company, Aomori South Offshore Wind GK, to develop the site in anticipation of participating in the upcoming auction. The Japanese government is targeting 10 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2030 and 30–45 gigawatts by 2040 as part of its target to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

CIP manages 10 funds and has to date raised approximately €18 billion ($18.1 billion) for investments in energy and associated infrastructure from more than 120 international institutional investors.
