CIMIC Group contractors to lead hospital developments in Australia

by Kali Persall

CPB Contractors, part of CIMIC Group, has secured two contracts worth $544 million for hospital development projects in Australia, according to media sources.

The first $257 million contract was awarded by the NSW Government in Australia for the first stage of redevelopment on a 14-story clinical Nepean Hospital.

Construction is already under way for the 55,000-square-meter (592,015-square-foot) property, which will contain an emergency department, 200 beds and 12 operating rooms at completion, according to Global Construction Review. It will be located at the existing hospital site in Kingswood in Western Sydney.

The project will build on CPB’s portfolio of hospital projects and is expected to generate $349 million for the company. It is scheduled to be completed in 2021.

The other contract, valued at $287 million, is for a phase two redevelopment at Campbelltown Hospital. The redevelopment involves the expansion of pediatric and mental health services, the addition of a maternity ward, intensive care unit, operating rooms and larger treatment areas. Construction is also under way for this facility, and it is due for completion by mid-2023.
