CEO of Sweden’s AP3 to step down at end of year

Kerstin Hessius, CEO of the Third Swedish National Pension Fund (AP3), will step down from her role in December 2022 after 18 years in the position.

She added, “At year-end I will have been CEO for over 18 years and have come to the conclusion that it is time to hand over the reins,” said Hessius. “It was not an easy decision. AP3 is a highly professional pension fund manager and it has been a privilege to work with such talented, responsible and dedicated colleagues.”

As of Dec. 31, 2021, AP3 held SEK 502 billion ($52 billion) of fund capital. Last year the fund reported the best financial results in its 20-year history, recording a return of 20.7 percent after expenses and a net result of SEK 86.8 billion ($9 billion).
