CDPQ and Energize Ventures launch $125m clean-energy partnership

by Kali Persall

Caisse de dépot et placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Energize Ventures have launched a new co-investment partnership to invest in clean-energy technologies.

Under the partnership, CDPQ will invest up to $125 million over the next three years in ventures aimed at accelerating digital transformation in energy and sustainable sectors.

CDPQ said it selected Energize as a partner after conducting a full market review and diligence of potential co-investment opportunities. The partnership will focus on technologies that address climate change, electrify mobility, and accelerate the deployment and the adoption of renewable energy.

“The energy transition is accelerating even faster than our predictions,” noted John Tough, managing partner of Energize Ventures. “With this change comes a tremendous opportunity for innovative companies serving critical infrastructure, mobility, renewables and other sustainable industries to emerge and capture outsized market share.”
