Carlton Power and Schroders Greencoat plan to roll out the construction and operation of green hydrogen production schemes in the United Kingdom through a new joint venture company, Green Hydrogen Energy Company (GHECO).
The partners are aiming to build a 500-megawatt project portfolio by 2030, contributing to the United Kingdom’s targets for up to 1 gigawatt of electrolytic hydrogen production capacity in operation or construction by 2025.
Carlton Power will manage the development, construction and operation of current and future green hydrogen projects for GHECO, and Schroders Greencoat will lead on project financing.
Carlton Power has originated and developed three initial projects for GHECO’s portfolio: Trafford in Greater Manchester; Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria; and Langage, near Plymouth (Devon).
