A new waste heat pump investment enabled by CapMan Infra is now supplying emission-free district heating in Hamina, Finland, marking an important step in the city’s energy transition.
CapMan Infra’s acquisition of Haminan Energia, a district heating and electricity network operator in Hamina, was completed in October 2024. This enabled a significant investment in a new waste heat pump plant to use waste heat from Google’s data center in the district heating network, supporting CapMan Infra’s objective of developing local energy infrastructure while reducing emissions.
Following the acquisition, the construction of the waste heat pump commenced. The project was delivered within a year, with first heat supplied in fourth quarter 2025. The investment allows Haminan Energia to provide emission-free district heating and expand the district heating network.
Once fully operational, the waste heat facility will cover around 70–75 percent of Hamina’s district
