Capital Dynamics acquires 50MW Longhill onshore wind project in Scotland

by Kali Persall

Capital Dynamics has taken ownership of the planned 50-megawatt Longhill onshore wind project in Scotland. It is expected to be one of the largest subsidy-free onshore wind projects in the United Kingdom, once operational.

Upon completion, the Longhill wind farm project will consist of eight modern Siemens Gamesa wind turbines with a capacity of 6.25 megawatts each, and the project will reduce greenhouse emissions by more than 2.6 million metric tons during its lifetime.

The seller, Energiekontor, will continue to provide long-standing operations management and optimization support to the project upon completion in the second half of 2022. Construction work is scheduled to begin in April 2021.

“The acquisition of Longhill wind farm demonstrates our commitment and contribution to the U.K.’s ‘net-zero’ climate targets, and in so doing we are delighted to have extended our subsidy-free renewable power investments footprint to a fourth European energy market
