Canadian Solar has sold a 17.7-megawatt Italian solar portfolio to multinational solar power producer Sonnedix. The portfolio consists of five solar photovoltaic plants in Sicily and has been operational since February.
Jointly developed by Canadian Solar and Manni Energy, the portfolio will sell the energy it produces to TrailStone Renewables through a 10-year power-purchase agreement (PPA). Canadian Solar says this is one of the longest PPAs for subsidy-free solar portfolios in Italy to date.
The solar plants are expected to produce 34 gigawatt hours of clean energy per year, capable of powering 12,000 Italian households.
