Canada’s federal budget is set to include a C$50 billion ($35.7 billion) infrastructure fund that will cover housing, transportation and health projects, according to Reuters.
The budget plans to phase out outdated military fleets, while preparing to receive new equipment.
“Generational investments” have been promised by the prime minister, Mark Carney, to pay for defense, housing and overall fiscal stimulation. His proposed plans are expected to unlock billions of dollars in investment in efforts to detach from the United States.
According to Reuters, the budget also will include up to $1 billion for researchers and talent from the United States, as well as cut a program that plans to plant 2 billion trees by 2031.
