The $420.6 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) has committed $750 million to IFM Global Infrastructure Fund, IREI has learned.
Managed by IFM Investors, the evergreen IFM Global Infrastructure Fund will invest in the energy, social infrastructure, transport, and water and wastewater sectors. Pitchbook reports the fund invests between $750 million and $2 billion per transaction and is at a size of $19.7 billion.
Recent commitments have come from the St. Louis (Mo.) Employees Retirement System, the Firemen's Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago, the State Universities Retirement System of Illinois, and the Municipal Fire and Police Retirement System of Iowa, along with a slew of other U.S. pension funds and other institutional investors.
As of Aug. 31, CalPERS had a 16.1 percent allocation to real assets, which includes infrastructure. The portfolio was valued at $71.6 million.
