The Louisiana Joint Transportation, Highway and Public Works Committee has approved a contract for the construction of the $600 million Calcasieu River Bridge project in Lake Charles, La., according to InfraPPP.
The committee greenlighted a public-private partnership (P3) to build and finance the Calcasieu River Bridge, which will extend from the I-10/I-210 west interchange to the Ryan Street exit ramp on the east side of the bridge. The nearby interstate will be reconstructed to meet design criteria relating to vertical clearance, horizontal alignment, sight distances and other road and bridge elements. In addition, other segments of road will be improved, and several access ramps and the interchanges will also be reconfigured.
The contract is scheduled to be awarded in early 2023.
