Brookfield to acquire Aypa Power from Blackstone Energy Transition Partners in $7b deal

Brookfield has plans to acquire Aypa Power, a North American battery storage platform, from funds managed by Blackstone Energy Transition Partners. The deal represents an enterprise value of approximately $7 billion at closing, or an equity value of $3 billion.

Aypa develops, owns and operates utility-scale energy storage and hybrid renewable-energy projects. With a highly contracted, diversified portfolio and 35 projects in operation or under construction, Aypa is the largest standalone battery storage developer in North America. The platform consists of approximately 6.5 gigawatts of operating, under-construction and contracted battery storage capacity, complemented by a development pipeline exceeding 20 gigawatts. Its assets are strategically located in transmission- and capacity-constrained regions experiencing favorable market dynamics.
