Brookfield has announced two investments via its Catalytic Transition Fund that expand the firm’s presence across Southeast Asia.
Brookfield purchased a 100-megawatt long-term, contracted, operational wind project in central Vietnam. The firm also acquired Alba Renewables, a renewable-energy developer with 1.8 gigawatts of wind, solar and battery storage assets. Alba aims to become the leading renewable energy independent power producer in Southeast Asia within the next five years, according to the company’s website.
According to Alba’s website, renewable-energy development in Southeast Asia is vital for meeting rising energy demand, reducing fossil-fuel dependence, enhancing energy security, driving economic growth, improving sustainability and expanding electricity access in rapidly growing markets.
