Brookfield Renewable has penned a deal with Australian developer Greenleaf Renewables to co-develop, own and operate the 400-megawatt Moonlight Range Wind Farm in central Queensland, according to various reports.
Moonlight represents Brookfield’s first renewables project in Australia. The announcement comes days after a Brookfield-led consortium unveiled plans to acquire 100 percent of Origin for an enterprise value of $18.7 billion. Brookfield plans to accelerate the development of renewable-generation capacity for Origin Energy, making at least $20 billion of additional investment during the next decade to construct up to 14 gigawatts of new renewable-generation and storage facilities in Australia.
