Brookfield has raised $2.7 billion for its second global flagship infrastructure debt fund, Brookfield Infrastructure Debt II (BID II). According to an SEC Form D filed on Dec. 10, the fund was backed by 41 investors.
IREI understands the latest close substantially surpassed the fund’s equity fundraising target of $1.7 billion and is more than triple the size of the previous fund in the series, BID I, which closed in December 2017 with $885 million in commitments.
Brookfield Infrastructure Debt Fund II focuses on infrastructure debt, targeting mezzanine debt investments in high-quality core infrastructure assets primarily in North America, as well as in South America, Australia and Europe.
A spokesperson for the fund confirmed 25 percent of the capital in BID II has been invested.
