Brookfield leads the charge in gas-production facilities buy

by Kali Persall

Brookfield Asset Management is said to be replacing KKR as the buyer of industrial gas production facilities from SK Materials Airplus, a manufacturer of industrial and medical gas and a subsidiary of SK Inc.

The deal could fetch around 1 trillion won ($766 million), and is expected to take place no later than August, according to Business Korea. Brookfield is in talks with KB Kookmin Bank and NH Investment & Securities to raise the capital before signing the final acquisition contract. ‘

SK Materials Airplus originally chose KKR as a preferred bidder for the facilities, but the negotiations between the companies fell apart and Brookfield appears to be taking KKR’s place.
