Brookfield launches two debt funds

by Andrea Waitrovich

Brookfield Asset Management has launched two funds targeting investment in real estate and infrastructure debt.

Brookfield Asset Management launched a fifth fund in its real estate finance fund series, Brookfield Real Estate Finance Fund V, according to a SEC filing. An equity fundraising target was not included in the filing.

The fund’s predecessor, Brookfield Real Estate Finance Fund IV, invests in mezzanine loans and will provide both acquisition financing and debt that would be used for refinancing properties. Brookfield launched its real estate finance funds unit in 2004 when it launched Brookfield Real Estate Finance Fund.

The second fund is Brookfield Infrastructure Debt Fund I, according to a SEC filing. An equity fundraising target for the infrastructure debt fund was not included in the filing.

Brookfield Asset Management is currently fundraising for its global infrastructure fund, targeting equity commitments of more than $10 billion.
