Brookfield Asset Management has appointed Mark Carney as a vice chair and head of ESG and impact-fund Investing.
Brookfield said Carney will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the new role. He is currently the United Nations special envoy for climate action and finance and is a longtime advocate for sustainability, specifically with regard to the management and reduction of climate risks.
Carney previously served as the governor of the Bank of England for seven years. He also served as first vice chair of the European systemic risk board, and is currently a member of the Group of Thirty and the foundation board of the World Economic Forum.
