Brazil approves tender notice for $1.43b airport round P3 concession

by Andrea Zander

Brazil’s government has plans to hold an auction for the concession of 15 airports on Aug. 18 after the tender notice was approved by civil aviation authority Anac.

The airports serve domestic flights and involve investments of $1.5 billion. They will be offered in three blocks, combining more profitable with less profitable ones.

“The airport concession program completed 10 years in 2021 and shows that we’re on the right path to offer quality services to the population and expand airport infrastructure,” said infrastructure minister Marcelo Sampaio in a statement. “With the auction, we will ensure more connectivity through air transport, with comfort, safety and technology for all passengers, in addition to generating approximately 100,000 new jobs.”

The airports to be offered handle 15.8 percent of domestic passengers, according to Anac.
