BP has unveiled plans to build a large-scale green hydrogen production plant in northeast England, according to Reuters.
This is in line with the British government’s goal of reaching 5 gigawatts of low-carbon hydrogen production by 2030.
The project, known as HyGreen Teesside, aims to produce 60 megawatt electrical input (Mwe) of green hydrogen by 2025, with the potential to deliver as much as 500 Mwe by 2030. The hydrogen will be generated by wind, water and solar energy.
The project will be developed in multiple stages.
