Bombardier Transportation Italy’s board of directors has appointed Franco Beretta president and managing director of Italy.
The appointment was effective Sept. 1.
Beretta has held various roles in the company since he joined Bombardier in 1990. From 2005, he spent six years in the industry with Trenitalia and Casram before returning to Bombardier in 2011 as project director for the ETR1000-V300ZEFIRO project, a high-speed train connecting major Italian cities.
In July, he was appointed region leader, Mediterranean, at Bombardier Transportation, responsible for sales and project delivery in Italy and Iberia. Beretta will hold the new position in addition to his existing role.
Bombardier is an important long-term partner to Italy’s rail industry with a history of supplying new trains, signaling solutions and maintenance services.
