Blackstone’s Atlantic Power Transmission to deliver offshore-wind project in New Jersey

by Kali Persall

Blackstone portfolio company Atlantic Power Transmission (APT) is bidding to develop an offshore-wind transmission solution of as much as 3,600 megawatts through the 2021 New Jersey Offshore Wind SAA Transmission Solicitation.

APT’s project is enabled by underground electric-transmission lines connecting to an existing substation in Central New Jersey, and enters onshore at an existing industrial site.

The solicitation was initiated by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, in collaboration with PJM Interconnection.

“We are excited to support New Jersey’s offshore-wind efforts and are proud to partner with the New Jersey union coalition,” said Sean Klimczak, global head of infrastructure at Blackstone. “Blackstone Infrastructure has a proven track record and commitment to long-term partnerships, and we look forward to continuing with this transformative and innovative clean energy development project.”
