AIP, IFM Investors consortium explores $25b Asia data center deal

by Kali Arevalo

An investor consortium consisting of the BlackRock-backed Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Partnership (AIP) and IFM Investors, is in exclusive talks regarding the potential acquisition of Stack Infrastructure’s Asia Pacific data centers, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. The deal could value Stack’s portfolio at up to $25 billion.

Stack is owned by Blue Owl Capital, which was initially seeking a valuation of more than $30 billion for the assets. Stack Asia Pacific data center markets include Melbourne, Osaka, Sydney and Tokyo.

The consortium is preparing to conduct due diligence on the assets, and deliberations are ongoing.

AIP was founded by BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) — a part of BlackRock — MGX, Microsoft and NVIDIA to expand the capacity of AI infrastructure and help shape the future of AI-driven economic growth. Its financial anchor investors include the Kuwait Investment Authority and Temasek.
