The competitive bidding process for a $2.1 billion subway rail project in Vancouver, Canada, has narrowed down to two.
Bidders included SNC-Lavalin, Broadway Connect, and an Acciona Infrastructure and Ghella Canada joint venture. SNC-Lavalin has reportedly dropped out of the running.
The project will extend the existing SkyTrain 3.5 miles from VCC-Clark Station to a new terminus at Arbutus Street, according to British Columbia transportation officials.
The winning PPP will be responsible for $342 million in financing during the five-year construction period, which is scheduled to be complete in 2025, according to Engineering News-Record. The preferred bidder also will be in charge of designing and building the subway line extension.
A winner is scheduled to be selected by mid-2020.
