BCG Report: A year of increasing scale and diversification for private infrastructure

After a tumultuous past few years, private infrastructure has faced challenges in fundraising and deal activity, leaving investors skeptical about the future of the sector. What was once an asset class rooted in traditional investments has evolved to incorporate alternative sectors that capture returns and provide a positive investment outlook. According to BCG’s Infrastructure Strategy 2026 report, the sector is now showing renewed strength and opportunity for years to come.

Fundraising has increased, dealmaking is beginning to stabilize and investors remain bullish, compared to other sectors of private capital, noted the report. Diversified investment managers are seeing a large influx of allocations, signifying that LPs are looking for reliable returns and regular deployment of funds. In response, general partners are expanding their offerings beyond traditional infrastructure to meet these needs.
