Basalt agrees to acquire R.E.L.A.M., a North American lessor of rail infrastructure equipment

Funds advised by Basalt Infrastructure Partners have agreed to acquire R.E.L.A.M., Inc., a North American lessor of maintenance-of-way (MOW) and hi-rail equipment. The transaction is expected to close by the end of May 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Rail maintenance is a safety-critical and regulatory-driven activity that supports resilient demand across economic cycles. R.E.L.A.M.’s leasing-focused model is supported by a scaled fleet of long-lived specialized assets, strong customer relationships, and a national footprint that positions the company as a market leader in rail infrastructure support equipment.

R.E.L.A.M. operates a fleet of approximately 1,500 specialized rail maintenance assets and serves a diversified blue-chip customer base, including railroads, contractors and other rail infrastructure operators across North America.
