AXA IM Alts has agreed to sell Data4, one of Europe’s largest data center platforms, to Brookfield Infrastructure. Financial terms were not disclosed.
AXA IM Alts acquired full control of Data4 in 2018 and subsequently worked with the company’s management team to drive the substantial growth of the platform. During AXA IM Alts’ ownership, Data4’s portfolio increased to 31 data centers across six countries, with 850 megawatts of secured power. This growth, which has included entry into several new markets in Europe, was possible through the close collaboration of Data4 management and AXA IM Alts’ on-the-ground real estate teams.
This marks Brookfield’s first major investment into the European data center market, a region that is expected to experience significant growth in the years ahead. Brookfield plans to leverage its ecosystem to provide best-in-class greenfield development and renewable power capabilities to further build the business throughout Europe
