Future Fund, the sovereign wealth fund of Australia, has promoted Ben Samild to CIO following a comprehensive global search.
Samild, a 10-year veteran of the Future Fund, will provide continuity and a deep understanding of the investment portfolio for a team that oversees more than $250 billion in investments.
Samild joined the Future Fund in 2013 as a director of debt and alternatives. In 2018, he was appointed head of alternatives, helping to oversee a significant expansion of the Future Fund’s allocation to this asset class. He became deputy CIO for portfolio strategy in 2021 and then deputy CIO for portfolio construction in 2022.
He takes over CIO responsibilities from Raphael Arndt, CEO of Future Fund, who was promoted last year.
