Asterion, Granahan McCourt team up to deliver Ireland’s National Broadband Plan

Asterion Industrial Partners has partnered with Granahan McCourt, the company behind National Broadband Ireland (NBI), to deliver Ireland’s ambitious National Broadband Plan.

As part of the transaction, Asterion will acquire the interests held by Oak Hill Advisors, Twin Point Capital and certain minorities, while Granahan McCourt and management will retain their current interests in NBI.

Granahan McCourt established NBI to partner with the Government of Ireland on the National Broadband Plan. The entity aims to deliver high-speed broadband to more than 559,000 sites with the rollout of a world-class open-access network.

The National Broadband Plan is the largest investment in rural Ireland since electrification, with NBI laying enough fiber to circle the world nearly four times.
