Ardian is preparing to invest more than €3 billion ($3.41 billion) in new data center capacity in Norway and Denmark, according to other media outlets.
The investment will be made through Verne, Ardian’s portfolio company, using funding from the firm’s $20 billion Fund VI. The investment is intended to expand Verne into a broader Nordic and Northern European data center platform, with capacity expected to increase to 200 megawatts in Norway by 2029 and 350 megawatts in Denmark.
Verne already has more than 110 megawatts of data center capacity operational or ready for delivery in Finland, with completion expected by late 2027 or early 2028, according to Bloomberg. The planned expansion comes as demand tied to artificial intelligence, cloud computing and streaming services continues to increase the need for computing power.
