ArcLight Capital Partners has agreed to acquire 100 percent of the economic interests in Middletown Energy Center, a top-quartile, highly efficient 484-megawatt natural gas–fired power-generation asset located in Butler County, Ohio.
Middletown, which commenced operations in 2018, is one of the newest natural gas–combined cycle power plants in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland Interconnection (PJM). It provides reliable, dispatchable power to the PJM market — the largest wholesale electricity market in the United States. The asset has a strong historical operating track record and is located in a market with material demand tailwinds from artificial intelligence (AI) and data center–related power demand.
