ArcLight Capital Partners has completed the sale of Great River Hydro to Hydro-Quebec in a deal valued at around $2 billion.
Great River Hydro is New England's largest conventional hydropower generator. The company produces around 1.6 terawatt hours of electricity every year, which is roughly 23 percent of all the electricity produced by conventional hydropower facilities throughout New England.
Great River Hydro owns 13 cascading hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 589 megawatts, as well as co-located battery storage and solar developments. The hydropower plants are located along New England's Connecticut and Deerfield rivers in the states of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.
During the five years ArcLight owned Great River Hydro, the firm added 29 gigawatt hours of annual generational capability and 8 megawatts in qualified capacity, according to Renewables Now. ArcLight has also developed a pipeline of organic solar, battery
