Aquila Renewables fund eyes Finnish wind farm

by Kali Persall

The Aquila European Renewables Income Fund has plans to purchase Aalto Wind 2 Ltd., a wind farm in Finland, later this year.

The deal also will include the li Olhava wind farm and its extension, which has an installed capacity of around 34.55 megawatts and an expected production of 99.11 gigawatts per year.

The transaction will amount to around 15.5 percent of the €154 million ($173 million) the firm raised from its IPO in May, according to media sources. The transaction will be conducted under a short-term financing agreement.

The fund aims to invest primarily in diversified operating assets, according to Aquila, as well as a limited number of greenfield renewable energy assets, including hydropower plants, onshore wind and solar parks across continental Europe and Ireland.

The fund targets assets that are expected to generate renewable energy output for at least 25 years.
