Opdenergy, an independent renewable-energy producer backed by Antin Infrastructure Partners, has acquired a 440-megawatt portfolio of operational wind assets from Acciona Energía.
The portfolio consists of 13 wind farms located in the Spanish provinces of Albacete, Cádiz, Cuenca, Lleida, Valencia and Zamora. The agreement also includes a portfolio of solar PV projects under development of up to 351 megawatts-peak, with potential for hybridization with the wind farms included in the transaction.
The transaction, valued at more than €500 million ($578 million), is expected to close by the end of the year, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.
With this acquisition, Opdenergy will reach an operating capacity of 2.4 gigawatts, with 80 percent of assets located in Europe and the United States. More than 75 percent of revenues are secured through long-term power-purchase agreements, which help ensure financial stability and predictability.
