The Employees Retirement System (ERS) of Texas has named Anthony Curtiss as deputy CIO, effective March 1.
Curtiss has been in the investment-management industry since 2005 and has spent most of his career focused on alternative investments, with an emphasis on hedge funds.
He joined ERS in 2012 as a member of the hedge-fund team and was promoted to director of Hedge Funds in 2016. Since then Curtiss has overseen a team of four that manages about $2.3 billion in assets.
In his new role, Curtiss will report directly to David Veal, CIO of ERS, in overseeing about $34.9 billion in trust assets. His duties will include oversight of key internal processes and selecting external managers.
ERS said an internal process is under way to identify a successor to Curtiss as director of hedge funds.
