Ancala Essential Growth Infrastructure Fund closes at $700m

by Kali Persall

Ancala Partners has closed its new Ancala Essential Growth Infrastructure Fund at £551 million ($700 million). The fund was oversubscribed, with commitments from a diverse range of institutional investors from Europe, North America and Asia.

The growth fund solely will support the expansion plans of Ancala’s existing portfolio businesses — Portsmouth Water, Biogen and Leep Utilities — which are working to accelerate the energy transition in the United Kingdom and ensure it has a clean, secure and resilient water supply.

Portsmouth Water is focused solely on water. It offers its customers the lowest average water bills across England and Wales. Ancala’s Growth Fund will provide Portsmouth Water with £120 million ($153 million) to help finance the construction of the United Kingdom’s first major new reservoir since the 1980s. It also will support the company to further enhance the efficiency and resilience of water supplies in the region.
