AMP Capital has agreed to acquire several electric bus projects and concessions in Santiago, Chile, and Bogota, Colombia, from Enel X, on behalf of investors in its infrastructure equity strategy.
AMP Capital formed an 80/20 joint venture with Enel X in 2020 to establish an e-mobility platform in the Americas. As part of the transaction AMP Capital will buy out Enel X’s 20 percent interest in the Chilean joint venture.
The projects include the provision of certain electric bus fleets and charging infrastructure in the Red Metropolitana de Movilidad public-transit system of Santiago and the TransMilenio Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system of Bogota. The transaction will significantly grow AMP Capital’s e-mobility investment platform to represent the largest privately owned transit electric bus fleet in the Americas.
The transactions are expected to reach financial close by Jan. 31, 2023.
