Amazon Web Services (AWS) is planning to build a new data center campus on 151 acres in Ohio, sources with knowledge of the matter told BizJournal.
AWS opened its first Ohio cloud region in 2016. This would be the company’s third data center campus in Hilliard, Ohio. Amazon purchased the land on Scioto Darby Road for $15.29 million in January 2021, Data Center Dynamics reports.
The company said it is continuously innovating the design and systems of its data centers to protect them from man-made and natural risks.
In June 2021, AWS announced plans to build 14 new projects in North America and Europe to supply renewable energy for AWS data centers, as well as Amazon’s corporate offices and fulfillment centers. The tech giant is seeking to power 100 percent of its activities with renewable energy by 2025.
